The summers in Bellingham are one of a kind! Tucked in between the mountains and Bellingham Bay, this city has some of the best summers. As we approach warmer months, there is boundless things to do here in our City of Subdued Excitement. Check out a list of our favorite Bellingham summer activities below!
From my hike up Oyster Dome
Oyster Dome
This 5-mile roundtrip hike features beautiful outlooks and intimate encounters with wildlife. Winding through tall trees and boulders, this hike may feel like a fairytale. At the end of the trail is an outlook point where you see Samish Bay directly below. To the left, you can see the city of Anacortes and the Skagit River Flats. To the right, you can’t miss Orcas Island and Lummi Island. I recommend packing a lunch to enjoy once you get to the top, or maybe even a hammock to rest in. Complete with switchbacks and some rocky terrain, this hike can be challenging, but it’s worth it.

Picnic at Boulevard Park
Enjoy the warm summer weather at Boulevard Park! Located right on the beach, this park is a great way to spend a summer day. Hammock in the trees, or lay out a picnic feast in the grass, or spend some time in the water. With a Woods Coffee located nearby, you don’t have to go without your afternoon cup of coffee.

Car camping can be just as fun at Larrabee!
Camping
The Bellingham area has an abundance of great camping spots, making it easy to find a way to get outdoors this summer. Larrabee State Park, located on Chuckanut Drive just south of Bellingham is a great one to visit this summer. If you feel like adventuring out a little further, try Silver Lake Park, located in the Mount Baker foothills.

Farmers Market Every Saturday
One of my personal favorite summer activities, the Bellingham Farmer’s Market! Taking place every Saturday at the Depot Market Square in downtown, this farmer’s market is filled with amazing artwork, foods, and handcrafted items. Going on until mid-December, the Bellingham Farmer’s Market is a great weekend activity for the whole family.
