Recently, we at the Greenhouse had the opportunity of staging the homes of HGTV's Unsellable Houses. We want to take you behind the scenes on one of our favorite houses to stage: the Earthy Contemporary split-level! We love Earthy Contemporary style for its stunning, yet comfortable, blend of sleek, contemporary lines and functional furnishings, with rich, earthy, browns, stone greys, and vibrant greens. Maybe its our love of our Pacific Northwest home, or the dramatic difference in the before and after, but this one was extra special!

Natural Materials + Textures
Exposed brickwork and wood wall feature creates a cozy, earthy frame for a minimally adorned fireplace. We used the Aston Re-Invented Recliner (10% off through June 1st!) with its walnut frame and neutral grey leather, plants, books, and soft wool blend blankets to create a room laced with the ultimate hygge, . Wood grains, red brick, and soft wool are all natural elements that add warmth to an otherwise clean and contemporary home. Elements that add this kind of warmth are necessary to keep a room from feeling sterile, cold, and empty.
Natural, Not Neutral Palette
You'll find all the usual neutral-hued suspects in Earthy Contemporary as you would in any other contemporary styled homes, but with the gorgeous addition of deep earth tones, and all the variety of greenery that exists in the forest. My favorite way to add a pop of green or two (or three, or four...) to my home is with house plants and other botanicals. Don't have a green thumb?
